Recommended reading of the week: Updated discussion on network switches

This wikipedia entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_switch  has an excellent discussion on network switches. Specifically, it discusses broadly the evolution of switching along with functionality added at different layers, most of which is never discussed in general networking text books. At least not in the old ones I read :)
