Google Blogger Header Image Design

Do you like our new header image on the softlockup.com website? If you do, you can make one for your blog too. We used a nice open source software called inkscape.

If you want to learn the ropes with inkscape, there are multiple tutorials on youtube, which are easily obtained on searching.

I will put a gist of the steps we used to create the image you see below:
Our blog's header image

  1. Create or obtain a logo: Either use a professional service or use your ideas to create a logo for your website. This part is optional. You can create the header image without a logo although it looks better with one.
  2. Create a canvas in inkscape: Open inkscape, by default you will be taken to  a new canvas.
  3. Edit the canvas size: Here you can change the canvas size to whatever you want. In my case blogger accepts header sizes of 950 x 120. Go to File > Document properties and change the height and width here.
  4. Then add the text to the header description.
  5. If you have a logo created or designed, you can add it to the header image by using File > Import feature.
  6. Save the image as header.png
  7. Open Blogger > Layout > header. Here use the upload image from drive option and use it to replace regular header and text (this is a checkbox option).
Follow these simple steps and you have a new header image for your fancy blog on google blogger.
